Sylvain Lehoux, General Manager

Sylvain Lehoux graduated as a mining technician in 1989. He started his career working for the Selbaie Mine and then worked in Ontario for the Williams mine owned by Lac Minerals. He returned to Val-d’Or to work for Placer Dome at the Kiena mine where he held various mining positions, including General Manager, where his mandate was to restart the mine in 2007.

Sylvain worked for Alexis Minerals as Vice President Operations before accepting the role of General Manager at IAMGOLD Corporation’s Westwood mine in June 2012. In June 2017, Sylvain accepted the role of General Manager of the Lamaque Project now owned by Eldorado Gold.

Sylvain believes in teamwork and is recognized as a strong leader. He is President of the Board of the Mining School and has served on the boards of different organisations including the Chamber of Commerce. Sylvain was awarded the business personality of the year in 2016.

Joël Gauthier, Senior Manager Corporate Social Responsibility

Mr. Gauthier has more than 30 years of experience in various roles across the mining industry. He has participated in the start-up, reorganization, and closure of businesses and developed specialized expertise in every stage of the operational mine life cycle.

Mr. Gauthier has particular experience in Six Sigma project optimization, ISO management frameworks, process improvement, community relations, human resources, health, safety, environment and security, and communications. He also has experience in complex unionized and non-unionized industrial relations, organizational development and running diagnostics for greater business performance. His expertise provides a multidisciplinary and in-depth understanding of complex work and social environments.

Mr. Gauthier has worked for SNC-Lavalin Inc., IAMGOLD, XSTRATA Inc., Cambior Inc., Noranda Inc., and McWatters Mines.

Richard Dubuc, Finance and Administration Manager

Mr. Dubuc graduated from the University of Québec in Abitibi Témiscaminque in 1985 with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting science. He obtained his CA designation in 1988 and his MBA in 1998. Mr. Dubuc has worked in both forestry and mining and is experienced in the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software systems at the financial, supply-chain and maintenance levels. He is bilingual.

Mr. Dubuc has held the following positions in the mining sector:

  • Louvicourt Mine (Aur Resources) – Chief Accountant
  • Langlois Mine (Breakwater) – Administrative Director
  • Agnico-Eagle Mine – Regional Administrator Hyperion
  • Vezza Mine (Nottaway Resources) – Administrative Director

Jacques Simoneau, Exploration Manager

Mr. Simoneau is a senior level exploration geologist who has worked with major gold companies in identifying and evaluating precious metals opportunities. He has extensive experience in the design, implementation and management of exploration projects and feasibility studies in various geological environments in Canada as well as internationally.

  • As Exploration Manager for Goldcorp, Mr. Simoneau led the exploration team at the Eleonore Project through a positive feasibility study and construction decision. Under his leadership, Eleonore’s resources grew to over 7 Moz of Au. He also managed the transition from exploration to development to operation.
  • As Principal Geologist, New Exploration Opportunities for Barrick Gold, Mr. Simoneau was responsible for the identification and evaluation of exploration projects for potential acquisitions.
  • At Placer Dome, Mr. Simoneau held various senior positions including: Project Manager on early-to-advanced-stage exploration projects in North America and West and Southern Africa.

Mr. Simoneau graduated from the Université de Montréal and is a member in good standing of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec. He is a P.Geo.
